VAT calculator: add VAT or take it out
Convert an amount excluding VAT to including, or extract the VAT from a total. Pick 21%, 9% or 0% and instantly see the VAT amount to the cent.
21% is the standard rate. 9% applies to groceries, books, hairdressers and bicycle repairs, among others. 0% is for exports and intra-Community supplies; with reverse-charged VAT you also charge no VAT.
Including VAT
€121.00
of which €21.00 is VAT
| Excluding VAT | €100.00 |
| VAT (21% (standard)) | €21.00 |
| Including VAT | €121.00 |
How to do the VAT math yourself
From excluding to including: multiply by 1.21 (or 1.09 at the reduced rate). From including back to excluding: divide by 1.21. A common mistake is subtracting 21% of the including amount; that takes out too much VAT, because the VAT is 21% of the excluding amount.
On your invoice you always state the amount excluding VAT, the VAT rate and the VAT amount separately. If you use the small business scheme (KOR), you charge no VAT at all.
